Peer Review Process

The Journal of Sport Science & Innovation (JOSSI) is unwavering in its commitment to upholding the highest standards of scholarly integrity. To this end, we have instituted a meticulous and transparent peer review process that ensures the research published in our journal is of exemplary quality, originality, and relevance.

Submission and Originality:

All manuscripts submitted to JOSSI must be original works, not previously published, and must not be under consideration for publication by any other outlet. Authors are responsible for ensuring the exclusivity of their submissions.

Initial Assessment:

Upon receipt, each manuscript undergoes a preliminary assessment by the Editor-in-Chief or a designated Section Editor. This step ensures the manuscript's alignment with the journal's scope, its adherence to basic scholarly standards, and its overall suitability for further review.

Reviewer Selection and Double-Anonymous Peer Review:

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial assessment are forwarded to independent experts in the relevant field. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, publication history, and prior review experience. Under the Double-Anonymous Peer Review model, both reviewers and authors remain anonymous to each other, ensuring an unbiased evaluation based solely on the content and quality of the research. To recognize and support the scholarly contributions of our reviewers, JOSSI registers them in the Web of Science Reviewer Recognition Service, enabling them to receive verified credit for their work.

Feedback and Collaborative Refinement:

The peer review process at JOSSI is not just evaluative but also collaborative. Authors receive comprehensive feedback from their peers, facilitating a dialogue that often results in enriched and refined research output. We believe this collaborative approach is pivotal in advancing scholarly discourse and enhancing the quality of published research.

Decision Process:

Post-review, the feedback from reviewers is collated and discussed in editorial meetings where decisions about the manuscript's status (accept, revise, reject) are made. While reviewer recommendations are crucial, the final decision lies with the editorial team, ensuring a balanced and comprehensive evaluation.

Ethical Standards:

JOSSI places a high premium on ethical considerations in research. Authors must ensure their work aligns with the journal's ethical guidelines, especially when the research involves human or animal participants. Necessary consents and approvals should be secured and presented when required.

Review Duration:

While the duration of the review process can vary based on several factors, we aim to provide authors with feedback and a decision within 4–5 weeks from submission.

Appeals:
We understand the effort and dedication that goes into each research manuscript. If authors disagree with a decision, they have the right to appeal. Such appeals are reviewed carefully, and decisions are revisited in light of the additional information or arguments provided.

We are dedicated to fostering a transparent, rigorous, and supportive review process, and we encourage authors to engage proactively in this collaborative journey to ensure the best outcomes for their scholarly contributions.
