Publication Ethics and Plagiarism Policy

Ethical Standards and Transparency:

JOSSI adheres to the principles set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We encourage all authors and reviewers to familiarize themselves with COPE’s ethical practices to ensure the integrity and quality of the research published in our journal.

Authorship and Contributions:

Every individual listed as an author should have made a substantial contribution to the conceptualization, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. Contributors who have played a part in the research but do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the "Acknowledgments" section of the manuscript. The corresponding author should clarify each author's role in the study and confirm that all authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript for publication.

Author(s)’ Statements on Ethics and Conflict of Interest:

All manuscripts must include the following declaration:

Ethics Statement: We hereby declare that research/publication ethics and citing principles have been considered in all the stages of the study. We take full responsibility for the content of the paper in case of dispute.

Statement of Interest: We have no conflict of interest to declare.

Funding & Acknowledgements:

Authors must disclose all sources of funding for their research and acknowledge contributions from individuals or organizations that supported the study.

Authorship Confirmation:

Upon submission of a manuscript to JOSSI, every listed author affirms their fulfillment of the authorship requirements. Any discrepancies in the portrayal of contributions or authorship are viewed as breaches of ethical standards, which may result in disciplinary actions.

Plagiarism Detection:

JOSSI employs plagiarism detection software (e.g., iThenticate®) to vet each submission for originality. Manuscripts found to have a similarity index exceeding 30% are deemed unacceptable and are returned to the author for revision or rejected. Authors are strongly encouraged to use plagiarism detection tools prior to submission.

Conflict of Interest:

Authors must transparently disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could affect the credibility of their research. This includes, but is not limited to, financial relationships, affiliations, or other support that could compromise objectivity. Full disclosure is mandatory, even in the absence of perceived conflicts.

Ethics Approval:

For studies involving human or animal subjects, authors must ensure they have received the necessary ethics committee approvals. If a study does not require ethics committee approval, it must be explicitly stated in the manuscript's "Ethical Approval" section.

Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern:

JOSSI has established procedures for making corrections to the published record, retracting articles when necessary, and issuing expressions of concern. These actions are taken seriously to maintain the integrity of the research we publish and uphold the trust of our readership.

Editorial Independence:

Publication decisions at JOSSI are based on the merit of the work, unbiased peer reviews, and adherence to journal policies. Editorial independence is maintained at all times, ensuring decisions are free from undue influence.

Complaints Procedure:

JOSSI is dedicated to providing quality service to authors and readers. Concerns or complaints regarding the editorial process, potential misconduct, or other issues can be submitted to the editorial office at jossijournal@gmail.com. All complaints are investigated fairly and confidentially.

Data Sharing and Reproducibility:

Authors are encouraged to share raw data, code, or methods alongside their manuscripts, unless there are compelling reasons for not doing so. Transparency in data supports reproducibility and strengthens the scholarly record.

Disclaimer:

While JOSSI and its editorial board strive for accuracy, they are not responsible for the opinions or content of manuscripts. Authors bear full responsibility for the ethical integrity of their work and for rectifying any errors. Any inaccuracies identified after publication will be addressed, and corrections will be published as needed.

In our commitment to the highest standards of research and publication ethics, JOSSI reserves the right to retract any article found to breach these standards and take appropriate action against authors found in violation.
